It’s a new dawn for Nigerian hockey since the new board of Nigerian hockey Federation [NHF], gave concession of the games to IEI on Friday June 19, 2009, for the next four years.

To fulfill it’s concession promise of lifting the game to higher heights, IEI in conjunction with the Nigerian Hockey Federation has flagged off the year with the IEI National 2010 Hockey Premier League.

The IEI National 2010 Hockey Premier League is divided into Assemblies [ Atlantic Assembly and Savanna Assembly comprising male and female teams], bordering on geographical lines-Southern and Northern Nigeria.

The Atlantic Assembly features all clubs within the Southern States of Nigeria, and the Savanna Assembly comprising of all Northern State clubs.

The clubs within the Atlantic Assembly will lock horns from 16th-23rd of May 2010, to get winners in readiness for the winners from the Savanna Assembly, which will begin May 30th-June 6th, 2010. The eventual winners from the two Assemblies will meet at Abuja National Hockey Stadium for the finals slated for 11th-18th July 2010.

The strategic intent of IEI, is to see the game of hockey become first love for Nigerians who have lost interest in the game.
